Composer, musician, singer, actress, multidisciplinary artist, the hypnotic power of Maika Makovski makes it impossible to divert attention for a single moment when she is on stage. Concern, seduction, passion, intuition, personality… is all in her music, which is always captivating but particularly live.
Constantly alert, her many trips through different countries and associations with diverse branches of art enable her to create complex and authentic works, places capable of causing emotion with the power of her songs. An example is “Chinook wind”, her latest album, produced in 2016 which includes a selection of ten songs that Maika composed on her return from a trip to Macedonia, her father’s homeland, where she explored her roots.
The album was recorded in Bristol, where she worked once more with John Parish (PJ Harvey, Eels). It has a stark and crude productcion, highlighting the acoustic instrumentation and the string and metal arrangements that accompany her voice.
The team
Maika Makovsky, accompanied by the prestigious Brossa String Quartet from Barcelona (two violins, viola and cello), Pep Mula (drums) and Pau Valls (horn), and Maika herself on acoustic and electric guitars.
