RAÍCES DEL CÁUCASO CON EL BALLET NACIONAL DE GEORGIA
A vibrant performance showcasing the most iconic elements of Georgia’s cultural heritage.
The Georgian National Ballet, the oldest and most emblematic folk ensemble of the Caucasus, presents a vibrant show that brings together the spectacle of traditional Georgian dance with the beauty of its music. On stage, 20 singers and 20 dancers perform a carefully selected repertoire that reflects the rich cultural diversity of Georgia’s various regions, combining traditional dances and polyphonic songs of great depth.
The programme features pieces passed down through generations—some dating back before the 20th century—alongside staged arrangements inspired by historic folk traditions. The performance stands out for its fidelity to original forms, the striking visual power of its choreography, and the depth of Georgian polyphony, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Traditional Georgian instruments such as the panduri, chonguri, doli, and salamuri provide a distinctive and authentic sound. The result is a unique artistic experience—elegant, energetic, and deeply emotional—that connects audiences with the ancestral soul of the Caucasus. The Georgian National Ballet has toured successfully around the world, with performances in cities like Paris, New York, Moscow, Beijing and Madrid. In 2002, they were awarded a Gold Record in Paris, and their rendition of “Chakrulo” was chosen by NASA to be included on the Voyager spacecraft as a representation of human culture. Through song and dance, the Georgian National Ballet movingly conveys the traditions and values that are at the heart of Georgia’s identity.
