MARKOS UNTZETA

After a career spanning more than 20 years, and with six discs to his name, Markos Untzeta’s latest release is Ekilibrista (2022). He is bringing all this and more to the Arriaga, forever loyal to the pop-rock, country-blues and blues sounds that he fell for back when he was just a teenager. It should come as no surprise that his influences include important names such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen or Van Morrison.

Markos Untzeta is not only bringing his amazing band to the Arriaga, but also the result of his fascination for this musical genre labelled as Americana, sung in the Basque language, in an out-of-the-ordinary show. This writer of outsider songs will be accompanied on the guitar by Giovanni Zanon, who weaves magic with his music; on the drums and bass guitar by Iñaki Ortega and Walter Tuzceo, providing solid rhythms and structures; and finally, Mikel Gaztelurrutia on the keyboards, adding his special touch to the songs.
