12 november 2019

THEATRE – OPEN SCENARIO SPACE

United States. 1965, approximately. VIP party in a luxurious residence. Famous people and Hollywood stars. There is a picture of Elizabeth Taylor, painted by Andy Warhol and given to his subject, who is waiting in another room. When its flamboyant owner has finished having fun, she is bound to come and pick it up. However, before doing so, one of the guests wants to look at the work at his leisure. He is alone and discreet. He is Marcel Duchamp, another contemporary art legend.

Soon, Liz Taylor and Marcel Duchamp, two great artists, are brought together by chance and launched into an unexpected debate amidst glasses of champagne and jokes.  Haute Culture and the Mass Show, their quality, their influence on the world… and the prejudices that they each generate. Each genius defends his/her stance in a passionate duel.

This play is the adaptation to the conventional format of “Elle n´est pas Liz Taylor”, which won the 14th Café Bar Bilbao Short Theatre Award and premiered its short version in May 2017 at the 5th Short Theatre Event at Pabellón 6.
