Sieben frühe Lieder (Seven early songs), by Alban Berg, are seven songs the composer wrote whilst receiving lessons from Arnold Schoenberg. These seven songs reflect the influences of Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler, Hugo Wolf and Claude Debussy providing a compendium of the harmonies typical of high romantic music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A concert that will evoke different atmospheres in line with the poems on which they are based.

The second half of the concert features the premiere of the “Tres nombres de mujer” cycle of songs by Antón García Abril dedicated to the pianist Rubén Fernández Aguirre, who arguably provides the best reading and interpretation of the composer’s musical metalanguage.
