Amoria

The most beautiful Basque music from the fifteenth century to the present

15 november 2018

Katia and Marielle Labèque, born in Bayonne and living in Ahetze, near Donibane Lohitzune, are coming with Amoria, a tribute to their Basque roots. With the help of the best musicians – Carlos Mena, Eñaut Elorrieta and others – they have explored the Basque repertoire from the fifteenth century to the present to come up with the nicest tunes by Basque composers. Ill-known or ignored music that is nevertheless impossibly rich and expressive in a virtuoso performance.

In March 2019, the Labèque sisters will present Amoria – recorded for the prestigious label Deutsche Grammophon – at the Philharmonie de Paris. Before this, they will offer a few exclusive preview concerts, one of them at the Arriaga Theatre, with some of the great musicians who have accompanied them on this adventure.
