Ocaña

He suffered from lack of affection in his flesh, and the rebuffs of an unsympathetic society

07 to 09 october 2018

Barcelona in the 1970s. The late Francoist regime. The Seville-born painter José Pérez Ocaña is trying to show his paintings and change the world. Firmly committed to political activism and an advocate for gay people’s rights, he was a peculiar character that would put up striking shows along Barcelona’s Ramblas.

José Pérez Ocaña suffered from lack of affection in his flesh, and the rebuffs of an unsympathetic society. Today, he is coming back to life in a story that should never have stopped being told.

 Premiere at Arriaga Theater.
