EL LENGUAJE DE LAS FLORES – LOREEN HIZKUNTZA
Love through a screen, ghosting, chance meetings and missed connections, cowardice, hopes and expectations.
Taking inspiration from the theme of expectations in Lorca’s *Doña Rosita the Spinster or The Language of Flowers*, this production explores romantic relationships in the 21st century and how the way we flirt has changed in recent years. Through different situations, it offers a humorous reflection on the modern quest for love.
*El lenguaje de las flores – Loreen hizkuntza* is a comedy in eight flowers or dramatic scenes, performed in a bilingual format (Spanish and Basque), with live music composed and performed by Ibon Belandia. The show revives traditional folk songs and reimagines them through electronic music. All the songs share a common thread: the use of flowers as a courtship strategy (compliments).
This project marks the debut of La Mapatxa Teatroa, a new Basque theatre company.
