The Compañía Nacional de Danza returns to Arriaga Theatre with Joaquín De Luz as director, and a very special programme, made up of three very different pieces. The programme opens with the revival of a work by Nacho Duato, Remansos, a highly expressive, geometric and dynamic force, set to music by Enrique Granados. Next, they perform Arriaga, a salute precisely to the marvellous Arriaga Theatre, a performance set to the music of the Bilbao genius as its starting point. Premiered at the last Granada Music and Dance Festival, Arriaga – choreographed by Joaquín De Luz himself, together with Pino Alosa and Mar Aguiló – unites the classical and the modern, to touch us through movement and the music of the Basque composer Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga. To close, Antonio Ruz’s In Paradisum, a work that will be performed in Bilbao just a few days after its premiere in Madrid. In Paradisum proposes an original aesthetic concept inspired by the chromatic palette of El Greco, with the contrasting voices of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s choral polyphonies. Antonio Ruz, in his first creation for the CND, proposes a dialogue between religious and popular music, the sacred and the mundane, the collective and the individual.
After this period of distancing and restrictions, the Bilbao public will have the opportunity to meet again with a renewed CND which offers for the occasion an eclectic programme, full of nuances and a wide register, bringing together in one single evening five choreographers who, through dance, explore the deepest feelings that music generates and which they transmit through the movement of the dancers.
