Men and women who were unlucky enough to stumble upon the runaway “horse”

28 to 29 january 2019

Richard Sahagún has carved a place for himself in Bilbao’s fringe theatre scene. His bold projects have defined an audience that is faithful to his ways of understanding drama. An actor, director and playwright, Sahagún sees the stage as a place for social and political commitment. His stage designs, consistent with this view, are powerful, harsh and lyrical.

Against the backdrop of the effective social-economic discourse of the 1980s, this play brings an ordinary family in the Basque Country to the spotlight affected by the scourge of heroin use. Caballo/Dostoievski explores their everyday lives, based on the stories of men and women who were unlucky enough to stumble upon this highly addictive runaway ‘horse’.
