The Ballet am Rhein, is considered to be one of the best ballet companies of today. Tanz magazine voted Martin Schläpfer, its director, Choreographer of the Year 2010, and the Ballet am Rhein as the Best Company of the Year for three years in a row: 2013, 2014 and 2015.

45 dancers from 16 nationalities form part of a group in which they are all soloists. The company has been on many international tours, taking it to the best stages in cities like Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Moscow, Edinburgh, Maastricht, Oman, Tel Aviv or Munich, among others.

The programme chosen for its presentation in Bilbao is called “7”, based on Gustav Mahler’s Seventh Symphony, the presentation of which at the Edinburgh International Festival 2015 led to heartfelt and unanimous praise by the critics.
