VIEJOS TIEMPOS
A game of suspicion, jealousy, desire and doubt, where the line between reality and fantasy becomes blurred.
Anna, a childhood friend of Kate, visits the house where Kate now lives with her husband Deeley. The woman’s unexpected appearance, twenty years later, sets off a game of suspicion, jealousy, desire and doubt, where the boundary between reality and fantasy becomes increasingly blurred. *Old Times* is one of Harold Pinter’s most celebrated plays—an example of how memory and imagination can distort our perception of the past and shape the way we experience the present. Written in 1971, it premiered with the Royal Shakespeare Company under the direction of Peter Hall.
And isn’t theatre itself a breach in the present that leads us to a different way of perceiving time? In this masterful text, Pinter dissects three complex individuals struggling to find common ground on which to reconstruct a hazy, inarticulate past—where words do not build bridges, but rather erect walls, full of ferocity and violence.
