Two old clowns with little charm. Two sons lost in themselves, the transgression of art, and success. A family of minstrel-like performers who understand wearing masks more than looking each other in the eyes. They’re engrossed in creating a show. The last show?
*Travy* is a tribute to the very Pla-Solina family (known artistically as “La Familia Travy”) and a (dis)encounter between two theatrical currents: on one side, clowning, folk and popular theatre; on the other, post-dramatic and meta-theatrical forms. It brings together two generations and two pivotal moments: those who see the end of the road without fear, and those who perceive its beginning with panic.
At a time when the company’s veterans no longer have ideas for new shows, and when the daughter rebels against all the inherited artistic forms, the youngest son returns home to rediscover his artistic voice and, ultimately, himself.
Lluís Pasqual recently said this was one of the best things he’d seen in a long time. That must count for something…
