LA VERONAL: LA MORT I LA PRIMAVERA
The universe dances, implacably, around our miserable actions.
La Veronal, the dance company led by choreographer Marcos Morau, turns to a cult novel of Catalan literature: the unfinished *La mort i la primavera* by Mercè Rodoreda, published after the author’s death. La Veronal captivates audiences with a bewildering fantasy of images, gestures and bodies: everything that flows, germinates and bursts forth in the underground — perhaps the subconscious — of Rodoreda’s most enigmatic and radically symphonic novel. *La mort i la primavera* is wonderfully irreligious. There is no “law of life” here, because life has more powers than laws. And every law evaporates in the conflagration of life and death. The universe dances, implacably, around our miserable actions, our petty violence, our vain gesturing, our fear of existing.
The company premiered *La mort i la primavera* in Venice, where it achieved great success and once again confirmed its international standing, already more than proven over more than 20 years of artistic career. This new work bears Morau’s unmistakable stamp while also surprising with its ability to captivate the audience through a proposal that is as beautiful and spectacular as it is dark and haunting.
Recommended for ages 16 and over.
