LA PATÉTICA
A play loosely and remotely inspired by *Morir*, the novel by Arthur Schnitzler.
**Madrid, 2025.** Pedro Berriel, a 53-year-old orchestra conductor, is deeply immersed in the recording of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6. So focused on his task that he naturally assumes the Russian composer is attentively following the rehearsals by his side. But perhaps the real reason for this delirium is that the conductor is in the terminal phase of a terrible illness. The anguish of completing the artistic work that, in some way, represents a resistance to his own death blends with the real anguish that death brings him.
*La Patética* is loosely and remotely inspired by *Morir*, the novel by Arthur Schnitzler. The play is a delirious journey between reality and fiction. The hilarious delusions of a man who struggles against the tragedy of his own extinction. A comedy with a tragic protagonist determined to have the sublime emotional outburst of Tchaikovsky’s famous Symphony as the soundtrack to the end of his life.
