I’M BATH is the secret testimony of the walls of a station bathroom. A gallery of characters and stories collected by the person in charge of cleaning it: casual travellers, executives, lovers, dealers, junkies, distracted women, vain men, the destitute, fugitives… Collisions and stories that cross, connect and transform one another; each unique, yet each affecting the others: the hidden time of urgency, the refuge of the marginalised, or the fleeting moment before an unexpected encounter. Everything smells strong and becomes strange in a place as common and unsettling as this one.
In the bathroom of a station: sinks and mirrors, cubicles and toilets, soap dispensers, tiles, fluorescent lights trembling… And on the other side, the roar of trains, the tannoy announcing departures and arrivals, voices, the noise of suitcases and the footsteps of travellers passing through; a bustle of crowds in which the chosen ones cross the door and enter the stage. The everyday nature of transit is always extraordinary, a liminal space, a non-place that holds unrepeatable encounters. Lives slipping away, and beings that get stuck because they have nowhere to go. The space is alive, the stage transforms with every story. And no one knows who will be the next to walk in.
Three stories will be performed in each show of this new stage-creation project by the company Khea Ziater. The stories that make up the first performance will be different from those in the second. Each performance will feature a minimum cast of four actors/actresses from those listed in the artistic credits.
