Etxekoak

This play critically examines the limits and absurd laws that today’s society and states have created and constructed.

No one can enter the home. That’s what the law says.

Maddi loves Mamadouy. That’s what the heart says.

“Etxekoak” is a play based on a personal story.
I fell in love on the other side of the sea.
The only way to be with my foreign friend was to marry.
And that’s where it all started: bureaucracy, administrative paperwork and red tape, countless trips, visits and interviews at the consulate… years and years of insanity and absolute absurdity.

On the basis of this experience, this play critically examines the limits and absurd laws that today’s society and states have created and constructed. It tackles the issue of immigration that is so strongly present in the “from home/from abroad” dichotomy.
