Two first-rate actors, Eduard Fernández and Dario Grandinetti, are putting themselves in the hands of prestigious film director Agustí Villaronga to bring a real story to the stage. Many years ago, in the middle of an ocean, “La Medusa”, a frigate of the French Navy, was shipwrecked. 147 men tried to save themselves by clambering aboard a huge raft and putting their fate in the hands of the sea. The horror lasted for days and days, dealing them the worst of all cruelties and the sweetest mercy.

Their story was immortalised by Théodore Géricault in the painting The Raft of the Medusa, preserved in the National Museum of the Louvre. Alessandro Baricco picked up the story in the chapter “The Belly of the sea”, in his novel “Ocean Sea”, and it is on this chapter that Agustí Villaronga had based his adaptation.
