EL BARBERO DE PICASSO
A comedy of characters who passionately live what, to anyone else, could seem like madness.
*El barbero de Picasso* is a hilarious comedy that takes as its starting point the well-known friendship and camaraderie between the painter Pablo Picasso and his barber Eugenio Arias in Vallauris since 1948. Cultural clashes in that France of exiles, where they animatedly—*a la española*—debate bulls, politics, and art, while leading us to reflect on the past; on the ancestral inability—also very Spanish—to communicate in order to build.
The barbershop described by Ortiz de Gondra in *El barbero de Picasso* is an anarchic piece of Spain lost in the south of France. Picasso and the Barber, within this microcosm, are Spaniards who feel nostalgic for a homeland that no longer exists and never will. A homeland they build in their discussions and customs. A place, and a time, where being a communist is still a possibility.
