She is amusing and daring. A woman who could be anyone. With a husband, a young daughter who spends her days building things and a younger son who destroys them. She has come up against the glass ceiling, coped with a job she was not meant to do, with work-life balance, with feeling like a failure as a mother, and with the small defeats and victories of any woman’s life. But things are not the way they seem. And everything is going to change. For good.

Chicas y chicos is a one-woman show written by the multi-award winner Dennis Kelly, (author of the cult series “Utopia” and the version of the musical “Mathilda”), which premiered in London at the Royal Court, starring Carey Mulligan. It is directed by the winner of this year’s Critical Eye Award, Lucía Miranda, and stars Antonia Paso. Both women lead a predominantly female team to tackle this feminist and inclusive text, which is both moving yet harsh on women, about gender-based violence and its effect on our children.
