Five years after the passing of Antón García Abril, his music continues to speak to us with depth and beauty. The composer was a true master at fusing emotion and poetry, leaving behind a lyrical repertoire of great expressive richness. This concert, part of the Lied Arriagan cycle, pays tribute to his vocal legacy, with a programme focused on his songs for voice and piano, performed by baritone Ferrán Albrich and pianist Rubén Fdez. Aguirre, a close collaborator and essential interpreter of the Maestro’s work.

Moreover, the concert date—27 January—coincides with another very special anniversary: the birthday of Bilbao-born composer Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga. From the Teatro Arriaga, which proudly bears his name, we wish to honour him during this very evening with a unique surprise: the performance of a previously unheard work of his, sung for the first time by a baritone.

This concert thus offers a moving musical tribute to two composers united by their artistic sensitivity and ability to move audiences. A unique occasion that celebrates the power of music and the emotion of the human voice in the intimate setting of the Teatro Arriaga’s Foyer.
