Why can’t you cry at your own party?

Why can’t we put different versions of songs that have been sung for years on stage?

Why don’t we dare to do things that we do not know how to do, if we are going to do them well?

The stage experiment “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to” is based on the staging of versions of pop songs that the group Bilbaomúsica has been performing in recent years. This choir directed by Gorka Aguinaga and composed of 10 female voices, works with the artist Maria Ibarretxe to create situations and stage part of its repertoire. The result is a new narrative between the song lyrics, the music, the members of the choir, its director, the space and the relationship between all of these things.
