CARNERIANA
A voyage through the originality of Carner's poetry, accompanied by David Alegret's delicate tone.
Josep Carner, widely known as the Prince of Catalan poets, was a source of inspiration for many composers of his time (Toldrà, Serra, Monpou) and continues to be so today. In this programme, the tenor David Alegret and the pianist Rubén Fdez. Aguirre pay tribute to the figure of Carner and offer a voyage through 120 years of history, from the birth of Catalan Modernisme to the present day, which will also serve to present their double CD entitled CARNERIANA,on the IBS Classical record label.
Carneriana, the chosen title refers to another title, one which must be regarded among the most famous in classical music, Kreisleriana, Op. 16, a cycle of short pieces for piano by Robert Schumann inspired by the imagination of ETA Hoffmann. To define Josep Carner as a romantic artist would be inaccurate, yet his art, his poetic work, stands out in the work of Alegret and Fernández Aguirre on a similar dimension to which Schumann consigned his imagined Kreisler.
