ABENDUA ARESTIZ
Commemorative concert marking the 50th anniversary of the death of a key figure in Basque literature.
Abendua Arestiz is an artistic and musical project commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of Gabriel Aresti, a key figure in contemporary Basque literature. Led by the Euskeria Youth Choir of the Bilbao Choral Society, the performance offers a renewed approach to the poet and his world, reactivating his legacy through a symbolic reading that interweaves memory, identity, and community.
The musical proposal blends contemporary choral arrangements with the participation of artists such as Rafa Rueda, in dialogue with the powerful voice of bertsolari Jon Maia, whose current and emotional perspective is deeply rooted in the Basque oral tradition. Music and word merge to create a journey in which Aresti’s poetry comes to life for new generations, offering a vibrant and intimate sonic experience that celebrates a legacy still very much alive in our land.
This tribute is presented by the Bilbao Choral Society and Euskaltzaindia, strengthening the bond between Basque literary heritage and a fresh artistic vision that keeps a powerful voice resonating in Basque culture.
