Five easy pieces

A play that tests the limits of what children know, feel and do

11 to 12 may 2018

The Swiss theatre director Milo Rau and his International Institute of Political Murder (IIPM) have won over the most important international stages in recent years with their incomparable political theatre. Based on testimonies and reconstructions of true stories, such as the notorious case of child murderer Marc Dutroux, Rau forges a path by ruthlessly tackling the taboos of our age.

“Five Easy Pieces” tests the limits of what children know, feel and do. Purely and theatrical questions are blended with moral issues. How can children understand the true significance of narrative, empathy, loss, subjection, old age, disappointment or rebellion? Do our own fears and desires come to the surface when we watch them act? The result is an all-encompassing experience of confrontation.
